Brahmital Trek

‘Brahmital’ is a high altitude lake situated at an altitude of 4,604 meters. above sea level in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand in India. The trek to Brahmatal is a 7 day activity, starting and ending at Jaspur Bend, with camping sites. at Phuladhara Saat Gadhara and Aadu Top. The ideal season to visit this lake is from May to December. There is a possibility of snowfall of 5 to 6 meters on the way of this trek in winters. The trek route has a continuous climb beyond Phuladhara on a narrow trail. so it is advisable not to attempt this during the rainy season. The Gangotri range can also be seen from this trek and the view of Bandarpooch can also be seen.
When you stand on the banks of the frozen lake at Brahmatal, you are already at an altitude of about 15,105 feet. The setting is superb. The lake is in a crater, the water is absolutely clear, the lake has a stone crane built into it, and just outside the lake’s shore, you are looking at the most beautiful mountains of our Uttarakhand – Gangotri Range
If there is not much snow, we will camp right outside the lake. The experience of camping in such a setting is an experience in it self.

The jungle walk is one of the best we have on this trek on a carpet of snow. They are seductive yet not overwhelming. You can see some distance from the middle of the forest, heavy snow hangs on the branches of the trees. And the Brahmatal campsite is our trekker favorite too.

Brahmatal is a relatively new trek in India. Nevertheless, in just a few years, it has become very popular. There’s a good reason for this – the trek has almost perfect settings for a winter snow trek.
