Dayara Bugyal Trek: Meadows of the Himalayas
···—

Dayara Bugyal Trek is a popular trekking trail in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, located in the Garhwal Himalayas. Specifically, the trek begins from the village of Raithal, which lies at an altitude of around 7,000 feet above sea level.

Moreover, the Dayara Bugyal trek is considered a moderate trek that takes you through dense forests, vast alpine meadows, and high-altitude landscapes. Along the way, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas, including Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, and Srikanth.

In addition, the best time to undertake the Dayara Bugyal Trek is between April and June, as well as from September to November. During these months, the weather remains pleasant and the visibility is clear. However, during the winter season, the trekking trail is covered with snow, making it a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

Furthermore, Raithal village is well-connected by road to major cities in Uttarakhand. You traveler can easily reach Raithal from Dehradun or Rishikesh. Additionally, the nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is located approximately 150 kilometers away.

Butter Festival Dayara Bugyal: A Celebration of Tradition and Meadows

Apart from trekking, the Dayara Bugyal Butter Festival is a unique cultural highlight of the region. Usually, this annual festival is celebrated during the months of August or September, around the time of the full moon.

During the festival, locals from nearby villages gather at Dayara Bugyal to prepare butter using milk from local cows. Specifically, the butter-making process involves churning milk in traditional wooden barrels until it turns into butter. After that, the freshly made butter is used to prepare traditional dishes such as chapatis, paranthas, and sweets.

Moreover, the festival also features cultural performances, including folk dances and traditional songs. In addition, sports events like tug-of-war and races are organized. Meanwhile, visitors can explore the surrounding mountains, go on short treks, and enjoy the scenic views.

Dayara Bugyal Butter Festival offers a truly unique cultural experience. Therefore, it beautifully showcases the traditions and lifestyle of the local people of Uttarakhand.
