Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Uttarkashi
Upon arrival at Uttarkashi, participants will be received and transferred to the hotel. Uttarkashi is a sacred town located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River and serves as the gateway to the Gangotri region.After check-in and lunch, the group will proceed to visit the famous Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This visit marks the spiritual beginning of the expedition.In the evening, a detailed expedition briefing will be conducted by the expedition leader. Topics will include: Route overview Weather conditions Safety protocols Equipment check Documentation and permitsDinner will be served at the hotel followed by rest to prepare for the long journey ahead. Overnight stay: Hotel at Uttarkashi.
Day 2: Uttarkashi to Gangotri
Day begins early with breakfast at the hotel. Vehicles will depart Uttarkashi at around 08:00 AM for Gangotri. The drive follows the Bhagirathi River and passes through beautiful Himalayan villages, dense forests, waterfalls, and steep mountain terrain.Multiple short breaks will be taken en route for refreshments and photography. The winding mountain roads offer stunning views of snow-clad peaks and deep valleys.Upon arrival at Gangotri by late afternoon or early evening, the group will check into a guest house. Later, participants will attend the evening Ganga Aarti at the revered Gangotri Temple, seeking blessings for the safe and successful completion of the Mount Bhagirathi ll expedition.Dinner will be served at the guest house. Overnight stay: Guest house at Gangotri.
Day 3: Gangotri – Acclimatization & Local Exploration
This day is reserved for proper acclimatization to reduce the risk of altitude-related illness. After breakfast, the group will go for a short acclimatization walk around Gangotri.Visits include: Surya Kund – a natural water spring Pandava Gufa – believed to have been used by the Pandavas Gangotri Museum – showcasing the region’s cultural and mountaineering historyThe remainder of the afternoon will be spent resting and hydrating. In the evening, participants will once again attend the Ganga Aarti at the temple. Dinner and final preparation for the trek will follow. Overnight stay: Guest house at Gangotri
Day 4: Gangotri to Bhojwasa
After an early breakfast, the trekking phase of the expedition begins. The trail enters Gangotri National Park, following a well-defined path used by pilgrims visiting Gaumukh.The trek is mostly gradual with a gentle ascent. Throughout the day, trekkers will walk alongside the Bhagirathi River, enjoying its calming sound. Views of Sudarshan Parbat appear shortly after starting the trek.A short rest and refreshment stop will be taken at Chirbasa. From here onwards, the terrain becomes more rugged, with several landslide-prone zones requiring careful movement.Just before reaching Bhojwasa, panoramic views of the valley open up. Views of Mount Shivling standing majestically above the campsite. Dinner will be served at the campsite. Overnight stay: Tents at Bhojwasa
Day 5: Bhojwasa to Nandanvan
After breakfast, the group resumes trekking towards Nandanvan. The trail passes Gaumukh, the sacred source of the River Ganga.From Gaumukh, the route becomes more challenging as it involves crossing glacier sections and moraine fields. Extreme caution is required while navigating icy and rocky terrain.After crossing the glacier, the trail ascends towards Nandanvan, a stunning alpine meadow surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks.This location serves as the base camp for Mount Bhagirathi. Overnight stay: Tents at Nandanvan.
Day 6: Base Camp – Acclimatization Day
This day is reserved entirely for acclimatization. Participants will remain at base camp, allowing their bodies to adapt to the high altitude.Activities include:Short acclimatization walks Health monitoring by the expedition leader Equipment checks Briefings on upcoming climbing stages Adequate hydration and nutrition will be emphasized. Overnight stay: Tents.
Day 7 to Day 13: Mount Bhagirathi ll Expedition Phase (6,512m)
Climbing, Acclimatization & Summit AttemptThe next Seven days are dedicated to: Progressive acclimatization Establishment of higher camps Load ferrying Rope fixing and technical climbing Weather monitoring Summit attempt (subject to conditions) High-altitude meals will be provided throughout this phase. The summit attempt will be planned based on weather, snow conditions, and the team’s health status.
Day 14: Bhojwasa – Gangotri – Uttarkashi
Expedition concludes with the descent from Bhojwasa to Gangotri (14 km | 3–4 hrs). After reaching Gangotri, the group will drive back to Uttarkashi on the same day.100 km The expedition officially ends upon arrival in Uttarkashi.
